So many families spend thousands of dollars on long car trips, tourist packages and so on, just to have people serve and shit. Are they really any happier than someone who just drives to the woods with their girlfriend, have a picnic and read a book?
Vacation can be wonderful, but can often carry expectations which lead to disappointment. Also, people often stay in work they don't enjoy, basically living for their weekends and vacation. I think it's better make your life enjoyable day-to-day and keep expectations reasonable for vacation.
